Lyrical Revelations

Here I am, sitting at my computer, listening to yet another of my fabulous mixes-this one is total 80's music. Up comes Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop", a fun, good-time song with a catchy chorus and hook, right? I'd never taken the time to really listen to the lyrics before, I'd just assumed the song was about some sort of bop-type dance that a girl is doing. Suddenly this line: "They say I better stop-or I'll go blind" caught my ear. "Holy Crap!", I thought, this song is about masturbation. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all, but in my innocent childhood, I was singing along and dancing to a song about self-love without even knowing it. Then again, I used to think "Little Red Corvette" was really about a girl driving a fast car. So, there you go.
